Wet Play w/ Mori Ra 20.08.16

A glorious feeling…

For your pleasure on Saturday 20th August Wet Play presents all the way from Osaka… Mori Ra!

Mori Ra = Super heavy Japan digger. All this rare Japanese music vibe is pretty ON TREND right now but he's been at it for a long time... he isn't only content to just own all the records that regular chumps have to cough up 100s of £££s for, he also has a nice little edit rig in his Osaka apartment where he takes that rare shit, chops it up and makes it bang even more before cutting custom 1-off dubplate versions for his own exclusive use... He's already hard at work cutting fresh plates for this journey so believe you are gonna hear shit you'll never hear anywhere else...

Need to quench? Come the drench...

Power-down force fields at the threshold. Dress suggestions – ‘Dilithium Debonair’. All species welcome. Plumage boosts positively encourage and will receive heavy nods. Dress-ta-sweat for extra enjoyment. Tucks will be appreciated on the way in - in various ways...

Increase your feeling....

BYOPU (bring your own power ups) *Special treat for early comers = Sample Swayward’s famous badman swish upon entry (whilst stock last (probably not very long)). Warning – do not drink if you are preggo or a pussy. *Additional libations available to purchase from the bar…

This is a SPICE free event. Anyone caught smoking, possessing or braggin about SPICE will be bounced out of the club and on to the next 192 back to Levenshulme. NO EXCEPTIONS (:

Venue: Kraak (now known as Aatma) Stevenson Square, Manchester.*Air conditioning sponsored by Wet Play (Where Good Friends Meet). *Multiply the vibe. Bring a pal or pure. Hang on to your crap. Lost property will not be returned so don’t ask. Wet Play highly recommend Bum-bags and not flinging your shit in corners when smashed...

Wet Play pals heavy in support. Passes available from various outposts for about 5 quid or cruise down at a decent hour to get in (MOTD=£7) ie: Before midnight = Slackers are crackers. Blast-off = 10:45pm…

…Soak up the fun.

Alternatively pick up a special 'TUB TOKEN' from Piccadilly Records to get yourself and a friend in for a fiver each... These are in short supply so don't dawdle...

WGFM#3 Release /// Tuck Report: Wet Play 11th July >>>FULL CREW<<<<< @Kraak

1. WGFM#3

After months of blood, sweat, tweeks and swear words our 'Where Good Friends Meet' triptych on Red Laser is almost complete. The third and final piece of the puzzle; WGFM#3 is edging towards it's official release at the beginning of August 2015... Featuring 4 landmines from some of our closest and mostest including massive debut heat on wax from Scottish boogie wizzard Tension a.k.a Hidden Groove... Here's pidge with the full lowdown:

Wet Play invite you to take a dip into their aural bubble bath for a third soaking as they complete their “Where Good Friends Meet” triptych on Red Laser Records. Inaugurating three new players into their much-loved steam room alongside long-serving patron, Metrodome. Rest assured this is one wash closet you're sure to frequent again and again.

Benny Badge, long term friend and cohort of our Randall Marsh, twice removed Manc and modern funk extraordinaire dons his Freekwency cap and kicks things off with "Streetboxx"; a loose and squelchy stroller / moocher dripping with Benny's flair for drum programming and goose-bump inducing melodies. Never untucked but rambunctiously grooving its way through Melbourne's sun-kissed, wide highways without a foamy dangler in sight.

Next, we jump into the Delorian and revisit 1983 as Glasgow's best kept secret, Tension provides possibly the most authentic slice of summertime soul you've heard since any of us here at Wet Play HQ were even born (Ruf Dug excused). Listen to that lyric - the guitars, niggling synth licks and perfectly executed tom rolls; fuck! Timeless boogie! and with the current off-the-wall pressing schedules post-record store day it's pure serendipity that we've got this banger out for summer 2015.

Giving you all the smells and feelings of a thorough soaking Metrodome and Il Bosco flip the script and give you the other flavours of our sensual soiree on the flip.

"Xanthan Gum" instantly reeks of what is now the standard de rigueur from Metrodome - futureproof as a Swiss army knife, sound system ready to tickle the fuck outta the tweeters n't subs n't yer nethers while being blissfully catchy, radiant and groovy as hell. The cats out of the bag on this guy. We know peops are after snapping up his art like a new Picasso. An increasingly busy body, wrist-deep in various projects including pounding out beats for Manchester’s infamous Levelz crew - we’re super buzzed that he’s kept some stone cold gems like this one held back for his foster family / nursery group Wet Play :) Nice one champ.

Finally, if you didn't already know, none of these Wet Play records would happen without parent label Red Laser having faith in our unprofessional, haphazard yet highly spirited outfit. Matt and Woody, perhaps witnessing a mirror of their former years, saw the intoxicating and unique atmosphere at our club nights and got us into gear to release these records; so it’s a double buzz when Woody sparks up his machines and gets all cybotronic on our arses with his Il Bosco guise. Hitting perfectly that late-night, drugged-out moment of floating-in-a-timeless-vacuum bliss when the smoke and the strobe and the lasers hit maximum, and the dancefloor's united in a serotonin flooded synergy; his 'Mind Meld' dub of Kano's "Another Life" instantly transports you to the centre of the dancefloor at our first adopted home, Kraak; emotional, hedonistic times whence which intense relationships were made, fresh moments were etched into people's minds and happiness poured into the streets.

Each copy comes with a FULL BUZZ guaranteed. Unsatisfied customers can do one. We got a v. small handful of special test pressin's up to pre-bag on The Pyramid Suite, failing that you can pre-order the release proper via Fatcity Records right now...

Sport it people and get down to Kraak on the 11th. Manchester's number one lifestyle supplement is finally back... It's time to take it back. No tuck, no entry... Yes ladies... You too! We also accept VPL payments... Get down before midnight or we will turn you into a pumpkin upon arrival.

SFTOC / RLD Good Friday / WGFM#3

1. SFTOC - Wet Play re-materializes this May 3rd for Sounds From The Other City Festival. We're teaming up with El Diablo's and Red Laser Disco to hold court down at the First Chop Brewing Arm in sunny Shalford (Salford pronounced in Cantona accent). A well hung line-up has been put together between the three parties... For our end we have re-enlisted our pal Ruf Dug to join us and he'll be breaking out his Lion King Cassette case for one of his extra special live tape JAMs. Expect to see a shit load of Gazelle carcasses piled up under the first chop's arches...

2. RLD GOOD FRIDAY - Talking of Ruf Dug and Red Laser let us point you in the direction of this Good Friday 3rd April's Red Laser Disco... Ruffy will be toppling the bill for this n all but instead of tapes he'll be armed with records instead. Yes kids - records and tapes yo! proper shit. Our Randall Marsh will also be down to add extra sweat with fellow Red Laser residents...

Also behind 'The Wall' on the night will be Manc-talo goliath Kid Machine playin LIVE, fresh offa this MASSIVE track on the latest Red Laser EP7 12"...

And incase you need any more convincing to attend on Good Friday - we've also finally released (also guesting on the night) Dave O's pinnacle defining set from Wet Play down at Kraak a couple of years ago. We've been enjoying this all to ourselves for ages now but for the good of all mankind we've made it public. Proper journey this one. One of the best boogie missions around. Amazing selection of BANGERS fired out amidst the searing heat of a well over capacity night club... wave after wave after wave after wave after wave...

Oh yeah and some crazy maniacs built a fuckin massive, ground and back-breaking, relationship dissolving, widge shrinking (in regards to the building process I mean), arse clenching, dolmio day inducing, neck winding, urine darkening, eye belting, 'better than the Lawnmower Man' 5D visual video wall a couple of months ago.... It will also be in play on Good Friday. The blood stains have been tippexed out and the brain fragments have been scraped off ready for round two...

The 'Mega Structure' in action... Hold onto yer lunches.

3. WGFM#3 - The wheels are in motion to complete our 'Where Good Friends Meet' triptych of twelve incherss. We promise it'll have been well worth the wait. We've shipped in some real heat to crown the series off in style. WGFM#3 is currently at the foundry being mechanically tweaked for public consumption. More news on that soon so watch out!

!!!!! Wet Play / Bohemian Grove Sinkhole Opening Ceremony 14/11/14 !!!!!

****14th November****

<>Wet Play & Bohemian Grove<>

Sinkhole Opening Ceremony

10pm – 5am, Bangkok Bar, Princess St.

…..£8 / £10…..

>>>>…After around four years of either trying to avoid each other’s party, or actually clashing with each we put our noggins together and decided it was about time to join forces for a multi-romp.

After spotting this crazy licensed restaurant with late opening times and wild decorum everything fell into place nicely.

New venue, new vibe! For one night only….

Bohemian Grove and Wet Play have been throwing raucous, hedonistic parties in the city now for over four years each, both with a very unique take on what we like to call underground music. B.G’s Means&3rd, Vietnam, Cottam and Damo B are always as much in demand as the cutting edge guests from the world of electronic that frequent the night. Simply put – if you wanted futuristic sounds played with finesse and style, in one of the most friendly and up-fer-it atmospheres in Manchester - the monthly Bohemian Grove parties at Islington Mill were the place to be. We at Wet Play preferred to be deep in the city centre, rampaging through once Man City-populated public houses, studio loft spaces, the monolith that is Soup Kitchen and a few other random drinking holes in the course of our messy 4 years in existence. Lavish exuberance, steamin’ energy and showbiz levels of (un)professionalism our trademark; everyone leaving the gaff with sopping wet smiles across their bulbs. Now at reduced numbers, the power-quadrangle of Randy Marsh, Ste Spandex, Kickin’ Pigeon and Metrodome ply various types of moods and grooves for your cerebral pleasure.

A reckless Wet Play, a short while ago....

Bankok Bar instantly screamed of the wild debauchery that used to occur at Charlie’s back in the day. Situated in a similar part of town and in the rustique basement of a dock off restaurant, this isn’t yer normal nightclub folks! Expect to be blown a new orifice as we plunge deep into Britain’s cavernous sinkholes…

Expect a repeat of these scenez

Tickets on sale in Piccadilly Records, Eastern Bloc, Skiddle, RA and The Pyramid Suite. With both crews attracted loyal firms we expect this to get close to capacity - advance tickets advised! Don't wanna be hangin' around outside getting harassed by over-enthusiastic ladyboys ;)

BBQ G-Brief /// Through The G-Hole /// Full Beam!

1. Wet Laser BBQ G-Brief

The dust in our heads has finally settled after the Wet Laser BBQ down at First Chop & The Roadhouse. BIG THANKS to everyone that came down and made it an EXTRA special one...

These snaps are a bit murky but they give you the vibe... there seem to be a distinct lack of photographic evidence... probably for the best...

So we ended up partying in three club spaces.... Daytime jam outside, under the arches and then on to the fantastic inside club space at the First Chop Brewing Arm until Midnight... Due to noise complaints from newly built hotels (we we here first dick heads! - get some quadrouple glazing you tight arsed nob scratches), the plug literally had to be pulled after the heroics of Mikey Don on the 11pm-12am slot... But everyone dived on the 1-pop highway over to a jumpin Red Play after party at the Roadhouse for the last leg of the 11 hour marathon...

Hopefully we got the whole shin-dig recorded cause LeonXLeon had a gadget on him... Gonna take a bit to go through it but when we do it will be posted up. In the meantime here's a wee message from old Gerry.....

Once again, THANKS to everyone involved - The venue staff (who broke the world record for finding empty baggies during the clean up), All the crews n heads that played - The Social Service, Clandestino from Leeds, LeonXLeon (Teleportation mission from Gay Paris), Boggy, sonofapizzaman, Mikey Don, The Disco Mums and Blane on the sick visuals throughout.... Special props to Dom on Door duties, Il Bosco (A.K.A the black Lenny Henry) who we joined forces with on this one and who worked like a nutter as standard and for all yous mad heads that make these thing go BOOIOIIIOIIOOOIIIIINNNNNNG x

2. Spacedust Selection 004 - Through the G-hole by Randy Marsh

Randy was kindly asked to provide a special mix for Canadian outfit Spacedust... Check the outcome...

RM's ‘Through The G-Hole’ mix for SPACEDUST is a brisk cruise of early evening moochers that eventually pencil-drops into post-midnight hydrofoil, fuelled throbbers. All stacked up in signature RM style – ‘All Hitters, No Shitters’ (Catchphrase)

Wet Laser Summer Frolic... ALL DAY BBQ!!!!

Anyone who's dipped into Manchester's 'Getting wrecked for four days on the trot on a bank holiday weekend' scene over the last decade will most likely have ended up at one of the previous incarnations of this BBQ at some point along the way. Over the years it has flown under the banners of Friend's & Family, Fat City and more recently Red Laser Disco/Records with our pal Il Bosco 'no-more-nailed' into the cock pit for the duration of the journey. Always a well attended Sunday buzz-up, this latest embodiment is set to be no different...

Limited early tickets are up on The Pyramid Suite... once they disappear either pop into Piccadilly Records for a physical or get em off Skiddle else it'll be a ten spot on the day provided it don't sell out... Links below...

*All going off at the First Chop Brewing Arm down on Trinity Way M3 - just over the River Irwell, between the Opera House and Islington Mill... piss easy to find... Top venue with a killer outside space... There will be Caribbean grub getting wazzed up on the BBQ and plenty LOUD music being pumped out from 3pm til LATE. Plus they got an on-site brewery for some good quality drinkin'.

- See you at the grill...
